Activities of Jungle Banchao Abhiyan on Gandhi Jayanti - 2007
As decided earlier by Jungle Banchao Abhiyan (JBA) on 2nd October several activities were taken up in Western Orissa. To participate in the state level event as convened by the NCSD Orissa Chapter (CSD-Orissa) 43 persons from Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir and Bargarh districts participated in the state rally. They had all taken placard with slogans and call of NCSD. In Bhubaneswar about 20 persons from the Chandaka Sanctuary area also joined the rally under the leadership of Samarendra Jena of SVA.
Titilagarh:
The members of JBA in Bolangir district organized a mass rally at Titilagarh where more than 800 people both men and women participated. They submitted a memorandum address to the President of India through the Sub Collector Titilagarh. This rally was also attended by several journalists, school teachers and sympathetic public personalities.
Dharamgarh – Kalahandi:
The members of the JBA from Kalahandi district and particularly from Sadar and Golamunda block assembled in Dharamgarh and after celebrating Gandhiji’s birthday in front of the court they went on a procession covering the Dharamgarh town. Later on, through the Sub Collector, Dharamgarh they submitted the memorandum addressed to the President of India. The rally was attended by over 300 people and it was led by Shri Birendra Dharua of
JBA.
Khariar, District – Nuapada:
In Khariar about 500 members of JBA mostly from Khariar and Boden blocks assembled and after celebrating Gandhij’s birthday in front of the children’s park went on a procession around the town and submitted the memorandum addressed to the President of India through the BDO Khariar. Subsequently, the leaders of JBA had a meeting at SVA Bilenjore premises and took a vow to continue struggle in peaceful way along with several constructive programmes. The leaders have also chalked out a series of activities for next few months.
On 3rd October there was a special meeting of JBA at Bilenjore where the strategies for next few months to strengthen the campaign in West Orissa have been chalked out. As usual JBA is being fully supported by Sahabhagi Vikash
Abhiyan.
